What We Are Looking For:
- Demonstrated Expertise: We are looking for capable operators who understand safe rigging, vehicle dynamics, and proper securement. Our ideal candidate can confidently handle everything from standard roadside assistance (jump-starts, lockouts, tire changes) to complex vehicle recoveries with safety as the absolute priority.
- Equipment Proficiency: You take pride in your equipment and your workspace. While we supply state-of-the-art, professionally maintained trucks and recovery gear, you bring the foundational mechanical insight required to operate them efficiently and safely.
- Customer-Centric Focus: Roadside emergencies are stressful for drivers. A calm, respectful, and reassuring demeanor goes a long way. As the primary face of Good Hands Towing, you will deliver courteous service that turns a frustrating situation into a stellar customer experience.
- Licensing & Reliability: You must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and have reliable personal transportation to and from the dispatch yard. To drive a tow truck in Michigan, you generally need a State of Michigan Chauffeur License, DOT medical card and a social security number. If you are operating heavy-duty wreckers or towing vehicles over 26,000 pounds, you will also need a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a Group B designation and Air Brake endorsement. If you are a strong candidate we may be able to assist you with attaining the necessary licensing.

Physical and Mental Job Requirements: This position requires the ability to climb onto truck beds and into truck cabs, move, bend, crawl, and twist quickly, and stand for extended periods. Candidates must be able to lift 50 lbs and operate machinery near fast-moving vehicles, flashing lights, and sirens. Additionally, this role requires the ability to communicate calmly and professionally with police and individuals who may be distressed, agitated, or under significant stress.
